Retirement of two Committee Members
It is with a tinge of sadness that we have to report the retirement from their committee duties of two long standing and highly valued members of the club:-
James Fonquernie
James has recently moved away from the Cookridge area to live with his daughter having been a resident of Cookridge for many years. His work for the committee was largely focused on securing speakers for our monthly meetings and was a task he willingly undertook for many years. In addition James was noted for being a very practical man, making significant contributions to the annual “tour” of local gardens ( as well as maintaining his own unique garden on Cookridge Avenue) and for the help he gave to ensure the smooth running of the annual show.
Rita Horne
Rita’s valuable contributions to the work of the club and committee included managing the smooth running of the catering and kitchen activities at the annual show and also being a link and contributor to Facebook on behalf of the club.
Both Rita and James will be missed by the committee for their invaluable contributions over a long period of time but it is good to report that both remain club members and hopefully that association will continue for many years to come and it only leaves the club, committee and members to wish both Rita and James well for the future and to say a big “Thank You” for all you’ve done.
Eric Wells
The Committee would like to acknowledge and thank Eric Wells, former Chairman of the Cookridge Garden Club, for all of his work and effort in developing and promoting the previous and original version of the Club’s Website. Many of the ideas for the new website were drawn from that original BT website and we are grateful for the help and experience Eric has shared with us as the new website has been, and continues to be, developed. Eric continues to make a valuable contribution to our new website via “Eric’s Articles” which are taken from his gardening articles written for the Cookridge Methodist Church quarterly magazine.
Ceri Wood
We would would like to place on record our gratitude to Ceri Wood, Website and Logo Designer, for all of her work and expertise in establishing this new website for the Cookridge Garden Club. Ceri’s work can be viewed via www.ceriwood.co.uk or Ceri can be contacted via info@ceriwood.co.uk
