2025 SHOW – A GREAT SUCCESS.
It is with great pleasure that we report the success of our Annual Show held on Saturday 13th September. A big vote of thanks are due to all those who helped at our first show at the Cookridge Village Hall and also of course to all who attended on the day and to the many people who entered exhibits.
Many thanks to the Show Secretary Maxine Asso and all the committee members who worked tirelessly along with the many who voluntarily gave their services before and on the day. Thank you also to the Judges for giving their expertise on the day. Your hard work was very much appreciated.
A number of pictures were taken on the day and in a few days time a selection will be shown on the website Gallery and also on the 2025 Annual Show page. So many were taken that it will take a few days to arrive at the final selection.
Once again many thanks to all – without you the Show wouldn’t have been the success that it was.
SHOW ENTRIES – For information and reference.
Entry Forms (together with fees) will be available and accepted at the Hall, on Friday, 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm, and on the day of the show, from 8.45 am, until 10.45 am.
Staging / showing of all exhibits must be complete by 11.15 am, on Show Day, when the Hall and all rooms will be closed for judging.
Exhibits must bear a class card, obtainable from the Entry Table, placed class number uppermost.
Exhibitors to name all plants and flowers varieties where possible.

175g butter 175g caster sugar Finely grated zest of 3 lemons 3 medium eggs 175g S R flour a splash of milk (optional) 200g icing sugar 75ml lemon juice
Preheat oven to 170C/gas mark 3 then Grease large loaf tin, 1 litre/2 lb..
1. Beat butter and sugar together in large bowl using hand held electric beater or electric mixer until very pale and fluffy.
2. Add grated lemon zest and then beat in eggs one at a time, adding a spoonful of flour with each egg to help prevent curdling.
3. Sift remaining flour into the mixture and fold in lightly using a large metal spoon. Add a little milk if necessary to achieve a good dropping consistency.
4. Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and smooth the top gently.
5. Place into preheated oven 170c/gas mark 3. Bake for 45-50 minutes
6. Put icing sugar into a bowl, and add lemon juice and stir together
7. Leaving the hot cake in its tin, use a fine skewer to make lots of holes all over the top of the cake, going quite deep, but not right to the bottom
8. Spoon the lemon icing slowly over the cake so that it all soaks in.
9. Leave in tin until cooled.
